Antique Tractor pull

ANTIQUE TRACTOR PULL - WEIGH IN 10:00AM TO 12 NOON DAY OF PULL

Thursday - July 31, 2008
This is a percentage pull!
There will be will be NO specific weight classes.
All tractors will pull against everyone.
Winners will be determined by percentage.
ESTABLISHED PRIOR TO PULL
Determine the constant:
1. Pull 2 tractors of similar weight
2. The tractor that pulls the best will determine the constant.

3. Divide the distance pulled in feet over
the weight of the tractor.

          Feet pulled =Constant
          Weight lbs

Determine a 100% pull for each tractor:
1. Multiply the constant by the weight of the tractor.
Constant x weight=100% pull - feet

DONE DURING THE PULL
1. Divide the actual distance pulled over the
distance of a 100% pull.
Actual Distance = Percentage pulled
100% distance

Example:
Tractor A and tractor B each weigh approximately 2500 pounds.
Tractor A pulls 168 feet.
Tractor B pulls 160 feet.
Determine the constant by taking Tractor A's pull in feet divided by its weight.

              168 ft = .0672
            2500
Determine a 100% pull by taking the constant (.0672 in this case) and multiply it by its weight (2500lbs).
             .067 x 2500 = 168 feet
To determine the percentage of tractor B's pull, divide the actual pull (160 ft) divided by the distance of 100% pull (168)
160 ft = .95 or 95%
168 ft
